Those who know me, know my kids are nuts. It was recently suggested that I blog about their shenanigans, so here it is. I'm making it publicly known that I have insane, fun, spirited gremlins. I'm not sure where they get it from, because I am the poster child of ladyhood and calmness. Therefore, the crazy must come from their dad.

The other night I made my daughter a tutu dress. I was up all night cutting strips of tulle and alternating the colors to get it how I wanted. My plan was to  pull it up high, and tie it right above her waist with a pretty ribbon. My daughter had other plans. She thrashed and screamed and wanted nothing to do with it. Well, I didn't buy all this tulle for nothing. So I went to my son. My sweet, 4 yr old son. He said no. A couple of cookies later (Thin Mints to be exact), I finally had my model :) The bottom of the tulle became all bent and out of shape from my daughter trying to escape the dress, so I cut about a foot off the bottom and made a pretty skirt. Above is the final product.
I cropped my son's head off, because I figure my husband wouldn't like a picture of his son in a tutu floating around the internet. I saved the full pic for future blackmail, just like any awesome mom would :)

I'm really loving this chalkboard art trend!! I can't wait to get back stateside where there are more materials and options to choose from..there's good stuff here in Okinawa, but the price is high and the selection is low. Plus, there's not much room to store everything lol. So I decided until I can get my hands on material to make an actual chalkboard art project, I'd do it digitally instead since I'm more comfortable with that medium anyway :)

Here's a nice freebie while I wait.. When you open this file, you'll find two 8.5x11 files (PDF and JPG images) both in high resolution for you to print out, stick in a frame and display for when you need a little pick me up:)

I found a really fun crochet pattern for this bearded beanie thanks to a friend on facebook tagging me in a post. I let my son pick his colors, and got to it. It's really quick to work up, and the pattern was easy to read. And free. I love free patterns ^_^
This is using the small beard, which was just perfect for my 4 yr old! Can you tell he likes it?

I recently bought a bunch of yarn when someone was destashing...I made out like a bandit ;) I've only been crocheting a few months, and got quickly addicted, so this was like Jackpot to me!! Well, it led to a little space problem..my little yarn storage area was over flowing.
So I searched for a basket pattern, and found this fun Spikes Yarn Basket pattern by Gleeful Things. And the best part? It's a free pattern!!!
This is my final result, and I stuffed it with some yarn that I'm going to be using on another project :)

I have made digital scrap kits for taggers for a couple of years now, and have recently decided to branch out into the land of printables, lol! I've opened an Etsy shop and everything!! Pretty excited to see where this new venture takes me :)

To start, I've made some bottle cap images. These are in both JPG and PSD form, so you can use them for printing or use the transparent file for digital work!
Pages are created at 300dpi for maximum quality.
Digital downloads only, no physical product will be shipped.

All are for personal use only. You can find them in my Etsy shop here

One of my besties is having her first girl..she already has 3 boys, so this little princess-to-be is sure to be spoiled rotten!!! I've decided to take this opportunity to make my very first baby blanket! I hope it turns out nice, because I really feel like it's time for me to branch out from hats and scarves lol.
I purchased some super soft yarn from Tokai Craft Heart, which is a little craft store here in Okinawa. The choices of yarn there were amazing and plentiful. Thankfully I knew I wanted light pink and grey, which are the colors Heather chose for her baby girl. She's also doing a dragonfly theme, so I may try and find a pattern that incorporates that as well.
Anyway, back to the yarn. I have no idea what the label says, but some googling led me here and helped me at least translate that it's best used with a Japanese sz 6 hook, which is a US 3.5mm. I'm actually using a sz 5mm hook..shhh ;)
Here's a little shot of how it's coming along. I'm doing 3 rows of each color, and have another, darker grey to incorporate as well :)
But wait, there's more!!! The pattern I'm using...free!!! It's the Chevron Crochet Baby Blanket found here by The Experimental Home. Thanks so much for this great pattern!
